Pretty Pride is an art programme aimed at drawing out the extraordinary beauty and skills of women who live in challenging circumstances. The programme runs in Cape Town and equips women with the tools to become fully fledged artists by providing training and workshops in art techniques and production.
Women learn how to create and produce their own art in the programme, that gives them an opportunity to earn money and express themselves through their, usually untapped, creativity.
Each art piece reveals a story of hope and beauty; a story of a woman rebuilding her life, finding her voice, her place in this world and leaving her mark.
We filmed this video over 8 months in Heideveld on the Cape Flats and in Muizenberg in Cape Town, South Africa. The women share their own story authentically.
