We are versatile in our filmmaking and can produce beautiful documentaries, corporate or promotional videos with strong character narratives, that have positive messaging. What makes us unique is the openness with which we approach our subjects that acknowledges their rich humanity. Some of our projects include films for Conservation International, Project 90 by 2030, Gender CC, University of Cape Town, The Paper Body Collective, The Heart & Stroke Foundation and the Children’s Radio Foundation. We have worked in Southern Africa, Madagascar, Poland and Cambodia.
We also create original visual theatre using a variety of artistic styles including puppetry, movement and video. Our shows to date have focussed on our reconnecting ourselves to the natural world, and have performed at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, the Out the Box Festival in Cape Town and in schools around South Africa.
Cosmos is the brainchild of Jacqueline van Meygaarden, who is based in Cape Town but works globally. We work in collaboration with like minded partners.
THE FILMMAKER – Jacqueline van Meygaarden
I am a storyteller. I tell stories through video and theatre. Video gives me the opportunity to capture beauty, colour, excitement, pain or joy through a camera lens, and theatre allows me to shape these into images and stories for an audience. The statement: “don’t film if you can live without filmmaking” resonates with me.
I started Cosmos Production in 2008 after working for 8 years as a freelance director, producer, cinematographer and performer, and wanted to create a home for all my work.
